Love & Miracles

'Where there is great love there are always miracles.'
--Willa Cather. We're bashful to admit that the only prior appearance of the poetess of the plains in these pages was this brief nod to her by our friend Deanna Adams. But hell, that's better than nothing. And she was surely something.

Thanks for your link to the previous post. "Sit in that chair and write as if your life depends on it." I love this.

'Where there is great love there are always miracles.' It's a great quote by a great woman, and I think the greatest miracle is to recognize love in yourself, acknowledge it and free it up, let it out, celebrate it, like we are doing here - in words, ideas, sharing.

I think I missed the fall conference in 2008 so thanks for this post, John; I read Deanna's presentation and as always, found her so inspiring! I love everything she has to say about writing and I love her writing as well. I do hope you and your readers will check out her interview "Writing Memoir" for The Writing Show, where she has more wonderful things to say about the craft.

Glad you found it useful, Alanna. I think Deanna ought to cook you a nice dinner sometime. You've been a wonderful fan and friend for her.

While I love a nice dinner, that's definitely not necessary! The writing (hers as well as others) fills me in a way that food can't!
Thanks for your kind words and your blog, John, there's tons of useful stuff on here, and I enjoy reading it! Happy Writing! =)

And happy writing to you as well, Alanna. What a nice notion about how good writing fills you in a way food can't. As my friends and family will attest, I'd sure hate to have to choose between a meal and an intellectual feast. I love them about equally.
